ARE FIREWORKS LEGAL IN MINNESOTA?

Fireworks are restricted in Minnesota.

Consumer fireworks are restricted in Minnesota. Only non-explosive, non-aerial fireworks are legal (sparklers, fountains, smoke devices).

No state time limit for legal items; local ordinances may restrict

Minnesota bans all explosive and aerial fireworks for consumer use year-round. Only non-explosive, non-aerial 'novelty' items (wire/wood sparklers up to 100g, ground-based sparkling devices up to 75g per tube / 500g total) are legal. Local units of government can impose license fees on novelty fireworks sales and may further restrict or prohibit use within their jurisdiction. There are no holiday windows that expand what products are legal.
