ARE FIREWORKS LEGAL IN MISSISSIPPI?

LEGALLast reviewed: February 22, 2026

Fireworks are legal in Mississippi.

Consumer fireworks are legal in Mississippi. Most consumer fireworks (1.4G) are permitted.

📅 WHEN CAN YOU USE FIREWORKS?

Fourth of July Season

Jun 15 – Jul 5 (retail sale period)

No state time-of-day restriction on use

New Year's Season

Dec 5 – Jan 2 (retail sale period)

No state time-of-day restriction on use

Mississippi statute § 45-13-9 restricts retail sales to the two seasonal windows above, but does not explicitly prohibit consumer use/possession outside those windows — only sale dates are restricted. Under § 45-13-13, municipal governing bodies and county boards of supervisors retain full authority to regulate or prohibit the possession, sale, and use of fireworks within their jurisdictions, and many do impose additional restrictions.
